About Jaggard Dodge Wells and others
Welcome to our website. This information has been compiled over the years by several members of the various families and I am deeply grateful to them all for supplying the information which is making this family history as complete as it is.
Researching a family is a task that can never be seen to be complete and so this website must be considered work in progress. Thus please keep coming back to see what has been added.
If anyone visiting this site finds any errors or omissions, can you please let me know so that the record can be put straight.
I am going to start adding some speculative information about the Dawson family. This information is taken from an Ancestry family tree of a person whom I trust but I haven't yet been able to get to Stafford Record Office and check this for myself. But other information from another source suggests that it is right.
Could you also please sign the GUEST BOOK so that we know who has visited and what they think of the work that has been done to date.
The Jaggards of this family appear to start in Warwickshire England. Some of the family then migrated to other areas of England, primarily Staffordshire. There was also a migration to New Zealand and Australia.
We are desparate to find ancestors of George Arthur Jaggard who possibly emigrated to Australia in the late 19th century as he is mentioned in the will Maria Russell of Leamington (CR611/252/1-3) as being of Cunnamulia Queensland Australia.
Thanks must go to the following people for their contributions to the compiling of this information
Leslie Gorrie via Colleen Jaggard (Vertongen) who gave me the first insight into the New Zealand branch of the family.
Betty Fox - a friend and archivist who keeps her eyes open for the name Jaggard when she is indexing papers at Walsall Library.
Tom & Winnie Foster (Deakin) who first alerted me to previous wives of Henry Wells Hilary Morris - in collaboration with Winnie and myself looking for Dawsson and Wells information
Brent Jaggard - many pictures about his family
Helen Jaggard (Magee) - info about Ians branch of the family Ian Forrester - along with Winnie and Hilary has been a sounding board for Dawson and Wells information
Lynda Ottaway (Woodbridge) - information on the Haslams and John's branch of the family Shirley McConnachie (Jaggard) - pictures and updates on her branch of the family. Wendy Pilcher (Jaggard) - information on her branch of the family Philip Charles - Abbots Bromley historian who took pictures of the houses which were occupied by Jaggards in the 1800's.
Michael Lowe - new Dawson information
If I have inadvertantly missed anybody out, please let me know so that you can be added in.
